Mayor’s Tree Lighting

Enjoy the Mayor’s Tree Lighting in the Market District

This year the Southern Market opened as a market again, reclaiming its roots.  It’s a beautiful space filled with food vendors offering a fabulous array of cuisines from around the world.  Many people mentioned this opening to us as Central Market and asked if we saw it as a competition. The Central Market is and always will be a Farmer’s Market.   The Southern Market is an upscale food hall.  Two different but complimentary markets.  Being only one block apart we see each other as collaborators and partners.  The synergy our two Markets can create to cross-promote our Markets and small businesses within the district, collaborate on community events, and provide valuable technical assistance for our Standholders will be phenomenal.

Market District

Welcome to the Market District.  The Market District includes the blocks surrounding both our Markets, using each Market as an anchor for the District.  Like Gallery Row and the 300 Block of North Queen Street, you’ll be seeing a unified approach to marketing and promotion.  Behind the scenes, we’ll also be working to ensure business owners in the district are able to network, participate in marketing and receive training from experts.  It’s a destination and a small business hub.

Mayor’s Tree Lighting

Join the City of Lancaster and the business within the Market District for the Mayor’s Tree Lighting on November 25, 2022.

Central Market

Come and shop with Standholders both inside the Market and outside on William Henry Place from 5 pm-8 pm.  Grab a hot chocolate or cider, a warm buttery pretzel, or visit Thom’s bread for their specialty waffles.  Inside the Market, some Standholders will be open offering delicious ready-to-eat foods, snacks, and drinks.

Southern Market

This year the Southern Market opened as a market again, reclaiming its roots.  It’s a beautiful space filled with food vendors offering a fabulous array of cuisines from around the world.  Many people mentioned this opening to us at Central Market and asked if we saw it as a competition. The Central Market is and always will be a Farmer’s Market.  Southern Market, in contrast, is an upscale food hall.  Two different but complementary markets.  Being only one block apart, we see each other as collaborators and partners.  The synergy our two Markets can create to cross-promote our Markets and small businesses within the district, collaborate on community events, and provide valuable technical assistance for our Standholders will be phenomenal.
