In August of 2007, Michael and Shelly Stauffer hit the ground running when they took over operation of one of Central Market's favorite stands, Ric's Bread. Ric's has been a Market favorite since the early 1990's and offered a loyal customer base to the new owners. Mike and Shelly have added more and more customers and exciting new offerings since taking over the stand. An excellent transition saw the new owners welcomed heartily and rave reviews given by market regulars.
Some of their best sellers are 14 grain bread, cinnamon swirl bread, apple bread, pretzel bread, baked oatmeal and their delicious salted basque.
They also sell an assortment of muffins, foccacia, baguette, dinner rolls, pepperoni and artichoke breads.
Ric's Bread does not use ANY preservatives ever and each loaf is made completely from scratch. No mixes are ever used. Michael starts work in the evening and works into the early morning hours to delivery absolutely fresh bread for Market each day. Shelly can be found at the stand every other Saturday, but spends most of her time running their store on Queen Street. Most of the time Joyce, Ann, or Tina will help you find what you need when you're shopping at Central Market.
Even if you've never purchased bread from Ric's, chances are you have enjoyed it at the Prince Street Cafe, Gusto, Annie Bailey's, Fenz, or any of the numerous downtown eateries that rely on Ric's for their exquisite quality when it comes to fresh baked breads.
